Orbcomm Pioneer Steps Down

[Stay on top of transportation news: .]

Satellite communications pioneer Alan L. Parker, who served as president of Orbcomm from its inception in 9 until 1998, stepped down from his full-time role with the company last week.

However, he will remain with Orbcomm on a part-time basis to help secure international regulatory licenses, the company said.

As president, Parker helped raise more than $400 million in capital to get the satellite system off the ground.

In 1998, Parker turned his full attention to Orbcomm’s drive to gain regulatory approval in international markets.

Before his tenure at Orbcomm, Parker spent 25 years with Ford Aerospace Corp., now part of Lockheed Martin.
