Omnitracs Names Post President and COO; Ellis Departs Company
Trucking technology vendor Omnitracs has named David Post as its president and chief operating officer, marking the latest addition to its leadership team since Vista Equity Partners acquired the business from Qualcomm Inc. late last year.
Omnitracs announced the appointments of John Graham as CEO and Jordan Copland as chief financial officer on Nov. 25, the same day that Vista completed its $800 million purchase.
Post, who joins Omnitracs with nearly two decades of experience in the technology industry, will oversee the company鈥檚 strategic planning and guide the business toward further growth and innovation, Omnitracs said.
鈥淚 look forward to bringing my experience in software-as-a-service and mobile applications to bear upon the organization as we continue to evolve Omnitracs to meet the technology needs of private and for-hire fleets around the globe,鈥 Post said in the June 12 announcement.
However, the company also has seen the departure of a longtime executive.
Norm Ellis, who was Omnitracs鈥 vice president of transportation and logistics sales, services and marketing, confirmed that he left the company earlier this month.
Ellis, who was the face of the company at industry events and trade shows, told Transport Topics that his departure was a 鈥減ersonal decision鈥 and that it was 鈥渢ime do something different鈥 after 16 years there, including the last 9陆 as vice president of sales and marketing.
鈥淚 felt it was time for another leader to come in 鈥 like John and others 鈥 to take it to the next level,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 just thought it was best for my benefit to find another opportunity where I can leverage my experience and have another good run.鈥
Ellis expressed optimism about the future of the business he helped guide over the years.
鈥淚t made it easier for me to leave, knowing it鈥檚 in good hands,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 feel very comfortable with Vista. They鈥檙e going to do a great job. They鈥檙e going to invest in the company, like you鈥檝e already seen with Roadnet. You鈥檙e going to see more of that. I think that bodes very well for the customers.鈥
Ellis also said he鈥檚 evaluating several other leadership opportunities within the transportation industry.
