President-elect Barack Obama has named a five-person group to oversee the transition for the Department of Transportation. The team leaders will conduct a 鈥渢horough review,鈥 the president-elect鈥檚 office said in a statement. The team includes: 鈥 Mortimer Downey, a consultant and former DOT deputy secretary under President Clinton; 鈥 Jane Garvey, head of the U.S. public-private partnerships at JPMorgan and former official with both the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration; 鈥 Michael Huerta, group president of ACS Transportation Solution and a Clinton-era DOT official; 鈥 John Cullather, the majority staff director for the House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation and 鈥 Carol Carmody, a consultant and former member of the National Transportation Safety Board. Seth Harris, a professor at New York Law School, is overseeing the transportation group as part of Obama鈥檚 agency review working group.
