New CNG Station Opens in Central Virginia
American Natural Gas announced it opened a fast-fill compressed natural gas station in Lynchburg, Va. The facility will primarily serve CNG tractor-trailers operated from a nearby plant of PepsiCo Inc.鈥檚 Frito-Lay division, but it will also be open to the public.
PepsiCo ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest private carriers in North America.
The fast-fuel station is designed to accommodate high-capacity, large-volume users, according to the Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based American Natural Gas. It is located within a mile of the intersection of U.S. Highway 501 and U.S. 221.

ANG currently owns and operates 44 fueling stations in 15 states across the United States, inclusive of stations in process and under development. This is ANG鈥檚 first station in Virginia and the second located in close proximity to a Frito-Lay manufacturing facility.
鈥淒elivering products using a more efficient fleet is a key component of achieving PepsiCo鈥檚 goal to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain, and our Frito-Lay CNG tractor-trailers are an important piece of our overall strategy,鈥 said Ken Marko, senior national fleet sustainability manager for PepsiCo鈥檚 Frito-Lay Division, in a release.
ANG is a unit of HC2 Holdings Inc.
