N.C. House Blocks 75-MPH Speed Limit; Separate Measure Would Waive CDL Requirements for Veterans

The North Carolina House blocked a bill that would have raised top highway speeds to 75 mph in the state, citing safety concerns, the (Raleigh) News and Observer reported.

The measure had earlier been passed by the Senate in a 45-1 vote, but the House moved the bill back to committee, citing safety concerns, the News and Observer reported.

Separately, a bill passed this week by the General Assembly would waive commercial driver license requirements for military veterans, the Greensboro-based Greater Triad Business Journal reported.

Trucking advocates said that legislation will create jobs for veterans who are transitioning to civilian life, the Business Journal reported.
