Manufacturing in New York Area Rises in June

Manufacturing activity in the New York region increased in June, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said June 16.

The “Empire State Index,” generally the first economic indicator in a given month, rose to a 19.28 reading from 19.01 in May, the regional Fed said.

Economists had called for a reading of 15 in June, Bloomberg News reported. Readings greater than zero show expansion.

Manufacturing is one of trucking’s largest and most important customers.
