Arnold Transportation Services said that truckload and logistics firm LinkAmerica Corp. will merge with Arnold at the beginning of the year.

When the merger is complete, Arnold said it would have more than 1,400 trucks and 5,000 trailers. LinkAmerica has operations in the Southeast and Southwest.

, previously served for five years as LinkAmerica’s president.

Arnold, Jacksonville, Fla., is an operating unit of U.S. Xpress Enterprises, which ranks No. 16 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
