Steady growth in home prices in 20 U.S. cities in June reflects a limited number of available houses for sale, according to S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller data released Aug. 29. Nationwide, values posted their largest advance in three years.

鈥淭he trend of increasing home prices is continuing,鈥 David Blitzer, chairman of the S&P index committee, said in a statement. 鈥淧rice increases are supported by a tight housing market鈥 with both the number of homes for sale and days a house is on the market declining for the past four to five years.
鈥淩ising prices are the principal factor driving affordability down,鈥 Blitzer said.

鈥 Seattle led the way in year-over-year price gains with a 13.4% increase followed by Portland, Ore, at 8.2%.
鈥 After seasonal adjustment, Seattle also had the biggest month-over-month rise at 0.8%, followed by a 0.6% increases in San Diego and Las Vegas.
