Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association President Jim Runk announced his retirement pending the expected hiring of a successor this summer.

鈥淚t鈥檚 been a great run,鈥澨齊unk, 70,听told Transport Topics. 鈥淚鈥檝e enjoyed being in the industry all these years. [But] a lot of the guys I鈥檝e worked with for years in TAEC [Trucking Association Executives Council] and at PennDOT and other state agencies that we work with have retired. I鈥檓 going to miss the relationships I鈥檝e made all over the country. I think it鈥檚 time to get somebody younger who wants to commit the time.鈥澨

Runk, who began working for PMTA in October 1972 and moved to his current role in 1991, said he鈥檚 especially proud to have helped prevent Pennsylvania from adding tolls to Route 80. Runk said that the association鈥檚 membership has held pretty steady at听about 1,500.
