Import Prices Rise 2%

The price of goods imported to the United States climbed 2% in August, the fifth increase in six months, the Labor Department said Friday.

The decline followed an unrevised 0.7% drop in July. Prices excluding fuels increased 0.4%. Export prices rose 0.7%.

Economists had forecast import prices would rise 1%, Bloomberg reported.
