FMCSA Seeks $528 Million to Boost Safety, Enforcement

In addition to providing billions of dollars for congestion relief, the Department of Transportation’s $67 billion fiscal 2008 budget proposal included millions of dollars for commercial vehicle safety.DOT’s $528 million request for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration contains $228 million for operations and safety programs, along with $188.5 million aimed at enforcement activities and $7.2 million for security.
