Ron Joseph, vice president of transportation, safety and maintenance for FedEx Ground in Moon Township, Pa., is the winner of this year’s American Trucking Associations Safety Director of the Year award.
Joseph received the award Oct. 4 at the ATA Safety Management Council meeting.
The award, first given in 1960, is currently sponsored by AON Transportation and recognizes individuals in the field of motor carrier safety. The winner receives a cash prize of $5,000, a ring and a plaque, which will be presented at the ATA Management Conference and Exhibition on Oct. 30 in San Diego.
Joseph has worked in the trucking industry for 30 years, holding a variety of industry jobs with other motor carriers prior to coming to FedEx Ground. He has a degree in transportation and over the years has added specialized courses in fields related to safety and personnel management.
