In interviews here with Transport Topics on Feb. 23, Mary Peters, DOT secretary, and John Hill, head of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, said they would consider supporting a study of the effects larger vehicles would have on U.S. highways. Peters said she would be interested in a test of “something like dedicated truck lanes with modifications for truck size and weight,” but that those lanes would need to be built “on a finite scale.”For the full story, see the March 5 print edition of Transport Topics.
