Diesel Unchanged; Gasoline Gains 0.6 Cent
Retail prices for the nation’s two major motor fuels stopped declining, the Department of Energy said Oct. 21.
The U.S. retail average for diesel remained at $3.886 a gallon, the same level as recorded by DOE’s Energy Information Administration on Oct. 14. Prices had declined for the five straight weeks prior.
The gasoline average gained 0.6 cent to $3.36. It was the first gain following six weeks of declines.
Both fuels are cheaper than they were a year ago, when diesel cost 23 cents a gallon more and gasoline was 32.7 cents higher.
