John E. Wren is not going to quietly go back to running his Roseville, Minn., trucking company when his term as chairman of American Trucking Associations expires Nov. 2.

While he will keep an eye on Lakeville Motor Express, Wren plans to continue to devote much of his time to helping ATA implement the strategic plan that bears his name.
鈥淚鈥檝e not given my sweat and blood for two years just to walk away from this. I have some ownership in the plan鈥檚 implementation,鈥 Wren said. 鈥淚 plan to remain as active as can be without stepping on the toes of the new chairman.鈥
As first vice chairman in February 1998, Wren was tapped by then-chairman Edward R. Trout to head a task force examining ATA鈥檚 structure. The task force developed the plan, which was approved by ATA鈥檚 board of directors last October at the association鈥檚 annual management conference and exhibition in New Orleans.
