Several of Continental Tire’s products have been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency for meeting the agency’s SmartWay tractor-trailer equipment specifications.

Eligibility for the specification is based on a comprehensive set of tire performance requirements including envinmental design and fuel consumption performance, Continental said Monday.

The certifications are for the company’s HSL long-haul steer tire, its HDL Eco Plus premium long-haul drive tire, and its HTL all-position trailer tire.

The SmartWay partnership is collaboration between EPA and the freight industry to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.
