Congressional Attention Diverted From Transport
WASHINGTON — Increasing truck traffic on highways around ports may be a growing public concern, but without a clear signal from the Bush administration, Congress is unlikely to do anything other than talk about it and most other transportation issues, two key congressional staffers said last week.Pointing to the popularity of the resurrected House transportation committee’s railroads subcommittee, they also said that rail issues are more likely to get attention from Congress than are trucks.For the full story, see the March 12 print edition of Transport Topics. .
