Averitt on July 17 for regional drivers with a hazmat endorsement in its over five-decade history.
The Cookeville, Tenn.-based transportation and logistics company said these regional drivers saw their compensation increase to 64 cents per mile. The pay also increased for other drivers and associates. The company views the raises as reflecting its ongoing focus on supporting its associates through competitive pay, benefits and career growth. That includes a profit-sharing plan, rewards program, equipment support and health benefits.
“It is important to us to reward our associates with competitive pay, quality benefits and meaningful opportunities,” said Barry Blakely, president and chief operating officer at Averitt. “We believe in investing in our people, because they are the foundation of everything we do.”
Averitt ranks No. 29 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America.
Averitt also said several classifications of less-than-truckload associates received pay increases as well. That included local and shuttle drivers who support those operations with night-to-night relays between facilities. The company also highlighted that it increased pay for dock associates, preventive maintenance associates and other categories.
