American Trucking Associations last week named Sean McNally as its new vice president of communications and press secretary.

McNally will direct communications strategy for the association and its member motor carriers, ATA said.

鈥淪ean brings an extensive knowledge of trucking and transportation-related issues to the Office of Communications,鈥 said ATA President Bill Graves. 鈥淲e鈥檙e fortunate to have someone with his talent and experience.鈥

McNally spent nearly a decade as a staff reporter at Transport Topics. Most recently, he led the government news team and covered Congress and many federal government agencies.

鈥淚鈥檓 greatly looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that being the voice of ATA will provide,鈥 McNally said. 鈥淚 greatly enjoyed my time covering the industry, and I鈥檓 hoping that that experience will serve me well in speaking on their behalf.鈥

McNally joined TT in July 2001, shortly after graduating from Elmira College. He then served in numerous roles at the publication before being named a senior reporter in January 2007.

McNally replaces former spokesman Clayton Boyce, who left ATA in June to work for the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

鈥淚鈥檓 grateful for the opportunities that TT鈥檚 editors gave me to learn the industry and explore its ins and outs,鈥 McNally said. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to this new chapter.鈥
