Engineering standards group ASTM International published four new final standards for biodiesel on Oct. 13.

The standards address properties the fuel should have when made as a 5% blend, a 20% blend and in a 100% pure form. The fourth standard looks at biodiesel when used as heating oil.

An ASTM committee recommended the standards for final approval earlier this year.

The production guidance was welcomed by the Engine Manufacturers Association and the National Biodiesel Board.
