An index of leading economic indicators fell in April, the New York-based Conference Board said Thursday.

The April LEI index’s 0.5% decline followed a 0.6% rise in March, the group said.

Economists had forecast no change in the LEI, Bloomberg reported.

The LEI is closely watched by trucking companies because it forecasts business activity for the next three to six months.
