ABF Freight System said it has agreed to another extension of its existing contract with the Teamsters union while the parties continue to negotiate on two outstanding supplemental agreements to a new contract.

The two sides — which have agreed to month-long extensions of their existing contract for each of the past few months — agreed to extend their contract through Sept. 30, ABF parent company Arkansas Best Corp. said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

The company and the union agreed to a contract in June covering more than 7,000 workers at less-than-truckload ABF, Arkansas Best Corp.’s largest business unit.

Since then, the Teamsters’ rank-and-file membership has approved the contract, with the exception of several supplemental agreements.

, leaving two to be negotiated.

Arkansas Best Corp. is ranked No. 12 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
