Truck Demand Poised for Rebound, Says ArvinMeritor's McClure

The head of auto parts supplier ArvinMeritor, Troy, Mich., said the company is seeing more interest in its heavy-duty truck components, a signal that truck demand couldrise toward the end of the year, Bloomberg News reported.

During an automotive conference in Traverse City, Mich., Chip McClure, ArvinMeritor’s chief executive officer, told Bloomberg on Wednesday that the company expects demand for heavy-duty vehicles to pick up “as we get to the end of the calendar year.”

ArvinMeritor,Troy, Mich.,recently revised its forecast for commercial vehicle demand for its 2007 fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, to 238,000 from 220,000.

The company manufactures brakes and shock absorbers for heavy-duty trucks.
