The Truckload Carriers Association presented a check for $250,000 to American Trucking Associations to help with ATA’s campaign against the Department of Transportation’s proposed hours-of-service regulations.

“TCA is pleased to be able to contribute to this important component of ATA’s overall opposition to the Department of Transportation’s hours of service proposal,” TCA’s new president, Robert A. Hirsch, said Sept. 5.

Hirsh said the single most important issue for TCA members is to obtain “reasonable and efficient hours of service.” He said that by the associations working together “mutually-desired legislative and regulatory goals” can be achieved.

The money will be used to fund a proposal to undertake a grassroots campaign on behalf of ATA that will build state-based coalitions opposing the hours of service proposal.
