DETROIT (AP) — The president of DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler division and the head of Daimler's truck unit will resign as part of a shakeup that could eliminate four of the automaker's 17 management board seats, published reports said today.

The Detroit News reported today that Thomas Stallkamp, 53, will leave as the head of DaimlerChrysler's North American unit and be replaced by James Holden, executive vice president for sales and marketing.

Kurt Lauk, head of Daimler's commercial truck unit, is also reportedly expected to step down.

The moves would come as DaimlerChrysler trims the seats on its management board. Germany's Handelsblatt business daily said the merged group's supervisory board will decide on the management board's new makeup Friday.

DaimlerChrysler declined comment today on the various reports.
