N.H. Gov. Plans to Veto Gas Tax Increase

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch (D)Ìýsaid he would veto the state’s budget if it includes a 15-cent fuel tax passed by the House and under consideration in the Senate, the Associated Press reported.

Lawmakers disagree with Lynch over how to fund repairs and maintenance to the state’s highways and bridges, AP said.

The increase to the fuel tax would ased in over 10 years for diesel and three years for gas under the House's plan. It received bipartisan support.

Lynch has instead proposed raising vehicle registration fees and increasing tolls and other fees associated with the E-ZPass toll payment system, AP said.
