The official theme of Nasstrac’s fall membership meeting was “Building Bridges to Better Performance.” For many shippers and carriers in attendance, however, the unofficial theme was “Let’s Work Together.”

After years of sometimes antagonistic relations, Nasstrac has a new executive director and officers with a new attitude.

Taking over as executive director is Debra N. Phillips, a marketing and public relations expert with ten years experience at Penske Truck Leasing and Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. Phillips succeeds Joe Cutrona, who retired after a 20-year tenure with the organization.

Phillips said she took the job because despite all the changes in transportation, “the one constant is the need to move goods. Those who are working to get the goods where they need to be are the unsung heroes of the business world. Our job is to give them the tools to continue to do that job effectively.”
