Since the advent of drug testing in trucking and in business in general, a whole cottage industry devoted to hoodwinking the tests has evolved. And the most popular vehicle for marketing products designed to mask telltale signs in urine samples appears to be the Internet.

(Michael James - TT) New Department of Transportation regulations will require that samples be tested for a number of adulterants.

For example, Spectrum Labs, based in Cincinnati, openly uses its Web site to advertise the urine adulterants it manufactures. Spectrum’s “Urine Luck” is designed to purify the urine of the “heavy user,” according to Kevin Pressler, national marketing manager.

But while attempts by job-seekers and employees to adulterate urine specimens is thought to be increasing — no one has strong data on the problem — it’s not a good answer for a trucker’s urine-analysis problem, according to some testing experts said.
