Initial jobless claims fell last week by 37,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

The decline to 391,000, the fewest since April, was below economists’ forecasts of a decline to 420,000, Bloomberg reported.

A 53-week calendar this year, a late Easter and the end of the quarter affected the seasonal nature of the figures, Bloomberg said.
