European heavy-duty truck sales rose 7.3% last year, led by Poland and Czech Republic, Bloomberg reported Friday.

Registrations of trucks heavier than 16 tons advanced to 313,532, from 292,144 a year earlier, the Brussels-based European Automobile Manufacturers Association said, Bloomberg reported.

December deliveries rose 0.6% to 20,097 vehicles.

Europe-based truck makers, including Germany’s MAN AG and Sweden’s Volvo AB, are investing in eastern Europe as sales there surged 47% last year, Bloomberg said.

In Western Europe, sales gained 2.9%, the association said.
