The Department of Transportation has launched a review of the federal government’s oversight of hazardous materials transportation.

The review, announced March 9, will assess DOT’s hazardous materials programs and determine whether their goals can be accomplished more effectively.

The results of the evaluation will be made public by March 31, 2000. The review is part of the department’s ongoing self-examination.
