Government Business Fuel Diesel Falls 9.5¢ to $4.444 a Gallon The national average for the price of diesel has dropped 17.8 cents a gallon over the last two weeks. Highlights The price of diesel fell in all 10 regions surveyed by EIA, from a high of 12.1 cents in the Lower Atlantic to a low of 3.7 cents in California. The diesel drop comes on the heels of a healthy 8.3-cent drop a week ago. The price of diesel has fallen in 11 of the last 14 weeks. Trucking’s main fuel is now just 42.5 cents more expensive than a year ago. Gasoline's price also dropped, by 5.4 cents a gallon, making the national average $3.39 a gallon.
