German truck and auto maker Daimler AG reported a 6% increase in second-quarter revenue, but net profit declined after a large gain last year from the sale of its stake in Airbus’s parent company.

Net earnings declined to 2.2 billion euros ($3 billion) from 4.58 billion a year earlier. Revenue increased to 31.54 billion euros ($42.49 billion).

“We’re growing, and what’s more, we’re growing profitably” Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said.

Revenue in the truck segment was little changed at 7.97 billion euro ($10.74 billion). Daimler Trucks had a profit of 455 million euro ($612 million), a 5% increase.

Truck sales in the United States, Canada and Mexico increased 18% to 41,100, and market share in Classes 6-8 was 36%. “We were thus able to clearly defend our market leadership once again,” Daimler said in a statement about sales in the region.

Daimler sells the Freightliner and Western Star truck brands in North America, as well as the Detroit brand of diesel engines, transmissions and axles.
