A federal court ruled against an arthritic driver trainer who sued his employer after he was fired because his condition prevented him from performing his job.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago agreed with a lower crt decision that said Gregory W. Moore’s arthritis did not make him disabled under the criteria of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

The 1990 law prevents companies from discriminating against disabled employees.

Moore sued J.B. Hunt Transport of Lowell, Ark., when the carrier fired him from his job as a trainer of drivers.

Hunt took action after a doctor performing Moore’s annual physical examination in 1994 said Moore’s arthritis meant he should not be exposed to excessive cold or damp conditions.
