Contrans’ First-Quarter Income Declines

Canadian carrier Contrans Group’s first-quarter income declined but revenue increased, the company said.

Net income fell to C$4.8 million, or 14 cents a share, from C$5.3 million, or 15 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue rose to C$134.8 million, from $C121.4 million, the Woodstock, Ontario-based company said.

Acquisitions completed after the first quarter of 2012 contributed C$5.8 million of revenue from transportation services, the company said.

Contrans is ranked No. 63 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
