U.S. consumer confidence declined this month, according to the Reuters/University of Michigan’s final monthly consumer sentiment index released Thursday.

The preliminary index for February fell to 56.2, from a 61.2 reading in January, the survey said.

Economists had expected the reading to fall to a 60.2 reading. Bloomberg reported.
