Consumer Confidence Declines

[Stay on top of transportation news: .]

Consumer confidence decreased this month, the New York-based Conference Board said Tuesday.

The group’s monthly index slipped to a reading of 69.2, from a revised 69.5 in March that was lower than first reported, the group said.

Economists had forecast a reading of 69.6, Bloomberg reported.

An improvement in confidence may increase consumer spending, which accounts for 70% of the economy.
