Carrier, AWS Collaborate on Food and Medicine Transportation

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Carrier Global Corp. announced Oct. 8 a multiyear agreement to develop a cold chain operations platform.

Carrier鈥檚 Lynx digital platform will be a suite of tools intended to improve temperature-sensitive cargo operations for customers. The aim is to transform how food, medicine, vaccines and other perishable goods are moved.

鈥淐arrier and AWS are tackling the complexity and fragmentation of the cold chain to give supply chain customers the transparency, flexibility and insights they require to reduce risk and deliver food, medicine and vaccines when and where they鈥檙e needed,鈥 Sarah Cooper, general manager of Internet of Things solutions at Amazon Web Services, said in a statement.

The suite of tools will听cover enhanced visibility, increased connectivity and actionable intelligence across cold chain operations to improve outcomes for temperature-sensitive cargo for customers.

鈥淭his project, which combines Carrier鈥檚 cold chain expertise with AWS鈥檚 digital experience and unparalleled portfolio of services, highlights how entire industries stand to benefit from digital transformation through increased efficiency, reduced costs and greater dependability,鈥 Cooper said.

Carrier is a global provider of sustainable building and refrigeration solutions. The company is looking to extend its current digital offerings for managing the temperature-controlled transport and storage by combining its refrigeration and monitoring solutions with AWS鈥檚 IoT, analytics and machine learning services.
