Cargo Chief has launched a technology platform designed to connect shippers with hard-to-find truck capacity.

The platform enables shippers to locate hauling capacity from Cargo Chief鈥檚 network of 500,000 trucks through a carrier search at , the company said.

鈥淥ur technology and network enables us to find capacity for loads that most brokers either can鈥檛 鈥 or won鈥檛 鈥 source,鈥 Russell Jones,听Cargo Chief's president and co-founder, said in a statement.

Cargo Chief, based in Mountain View, California, said its patented technology identifies the optimal carrier for a specific load.

The platform, initially launched last year, pinpoints capacity opportunities for truckload, less-than-truckload, flatbed, intermodal and refrigerated freight.

Cargo Chief will work with fleets of all sizes, but the company targets small and mid-size carriers that are harder to locate, Abtin Hamidi, vice president and co-founder, told Transport Topics.

鈥淚t鈥檚 all about providing secret capacity that our shippers just don鈥檛 have the ability to find right now,鈥 he said.

When booking a load, shippers also can request a free load-tracking service via smartphone or computer.

Before finalizing a shipment, Cargo Chief automatically verifies the driver鈥檚 safety rating authority status and confirms the carrier鈥檚 cargo and automotive insurance, the company said.
