Labor minister Jean-Pierre Blackburn asked Elizabeth MacPherson, the government’s top labor mediator, to meet with both sides, Bloomberg reported, citing a Canadian Press report Tuesday.Workers at CN, Canada’s largest railroad, went on strike Feb. 10 following a three-year contract that ended Dec. 31 and was not renewed. Managers have since replaced the workers to keep trains running, Bloomberg reported.In 2005, about $66 billion worth of auto parts and other freight crossed the U.S.-Canadian border by rail, Bloomberg said.
