Blue Bloodhound, which matches available drivers with carriers, said it has passed the 20,000 threshold in drivers who participate in the service.

The North Carolina-based company offers the program at no cost to drivers, while carriers that use participating drivers pay $65 per run each day they use a driver.

A spokesman said several hundred carriers have tested the offering, which is designed to make the process easier for carriers to find qualified drivers on a short-term basis.

“Our new marketplace gives motor carriers immediate access to thousands of qualified drivers across the country who are actively

looking for extra work. Whether local or over-the-road, motor carriers with an urgent driver need can simply post a run on Blue Bloodhound’s website and hire a qualified CDL truck driver the same day,” Chris Davy, executive vice president of sales, said in a statement.

Interested drivers can see posted runs on the company’s website without completing the driver qualification file. To obtain more details about a run or applying to move it requires that the driver provide his or her qualification details.

Drivers are paid as independent contractors, according to the statement.
