Arkansas Best Corp.’s Earnings, Revenue Rise

rkansas Best Corp., parent of less-than-truckload carrier ABF Freight System, said Monday it earned $10.5 million or 41 cents a share in the first quarter, up from $4.5 million or 18 cents last year.

The company reported its quarterly revenue at $417.3 million, compared with $374.8 in the same period last year.

ABF Freight System’s revenue was $384.1 million, a per-day increase of 11% over the same period last year, the company said. Its first-quarter tonnage rose 3.7% year-over year.



The company’s Clipper intermodal and freight forwarding unit had revenue of $23.5 million for the quarter, up 12.2% over last year.

Arkansas Best is ranked No. 16 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian trucking companies.
