A federal court in Alabama ruled that a shipper cannot go through the state courts to sue a trucking company for alleged cargo damage.

Jacksonville, Ala.-based Bear MGC Cutlery charged in the Alabama Circuit Court for Calhoun County that Estes Express Lines of Richmond, Va., damaged exposition equipment and product samples while transporting the goods from a trade show in Atlanta back to its headquarters, according to Larry Roberts, a Miami-based attorney representing Estes.

The official charge against Estes was wantonness and negligence.
