Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous driving unit, will hit more than 1 million paid weekly robotaxi rides in the U.S. by the end of this year, according to co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana.

Alphabet’s Waymo said it is using DeepMind’s Genie 3 AI model to create realistic, digital worlds for its autonomous driving technology to train on edge-case scenarios.

Kenta Kon, 57, on Feb. 6 was unexpectedly announced as the next CEO of Toyota, to replace Koji Sato, who will become vice chairman in April after three years in the role. 

Slip Robotics launched a new loading and unloading platform called SlipLift, expanding its autonomous tech into heavier freight, regional distribution and last‑mile delivery operations.

New CFO Balaji Krishnamurthy has been with Uber for more than six years and is currently vice president of strategic finance and investor relations. Uber has agreed to purchase fleets of robotaxis.

Uber's quarterly results will likely take a back seat to the mounting threat posed by the growing self-driving fleets from prominent rivals like Alphabet's Waymo and Elon Musk's Tesla.

Parent company Alphabet would provide about $13 billion to the robotaxi firm, while the rest would come from others, including new investor Sequoia Capital, Bloomberg reports.

The ChatGPT maker has held discussions with Amazon, Nvidia and SoftBank Group for a new funding round, according to a person familiar with the matter. Details still could change.

“Together, Mercedes-Benz, Nvidia and Uber will build a global platform that makes autonomous driving available to everyone,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said.

The company reported Jan. 28 that net income last year dropped 46% to $3.8 billion despite the introduction of cheaper models and CEO Elon Musk's promise to remain laser-focused on the company.
