Kansas City Southern said it earned $51.8 million, or 50 cents a share, in its fourth quarter, compared with $32.3 million, or 34 cents, the previous year.

Norfolk Southern Corp.’s fourth-quarter and annual net income rose from the same periods a year earlier and it said it was boosting its quarterly dividend.

Canadian freight railroad Canadian Pacific’s fourth-quarter net income increased 27.1% to C$185.8 million, or C$1.09 per share, from C$146.2 million, or 87 cents, a year earlier.
