UPS Opens Two Distribution Centers in China
UPS Inc. said Tuesday it has opened two new distribution centers in China, increasing access to developing rural and urban areas.
The听logistics facilities located in Chengdu and Shanghai听were built to support the high-tech, industrial manufacturing, aerospace and retail industries.
According to UPS, the facilities are part of its commitment to serving China鈥檚 emerging middle class and are a major part of its efforts to develop a national distribution network.
鈥淯PS is committed to supporting emerging market demand and helping customers expand into new markets in China,鈥 UPS International President听Jim Barber听said in a statement.
鈥淓xpansion efforts, such as the opening of these two facilities, will bring unmatched resources to our customers looking for a national distribution platform in China,鈥 he said.
The Shanghai facility has 70,000 square feet of distribution space and is less than two miles from the UPS鈥 international hub at Shanghai鈥檚 Pudong Airport.
The Chengdu facility has 47,000 square feet of warehousing and distribution space and is close to major interstate roads, putting two-thirds of China's Southwest population within a day鈥檚 drive, according to UPS.
UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
